The Song that Changes You

Have you ever noticed how quickly a song can change how you feel?

A certain song comes on in the car and suddenly your mood shifts.

A piece of music brings tears to your eyes.

A familiar melody calms your nervous system after a stressful day.

Or maybe you've found yourself putting on music while cleaning, exercising, driving, studying, or simply trying to make it through a hard moment.

We do this instinctively.

Long before we understood nervous systems, brain science, or stress physiology, humans were using sound.

Drums.
Chanting.
Singing.
Rhythm.
Music.

Not just for entertainment.

For connection.
For healing.
For regulation.

A few years ago, I hosted a beautiful workshop with fellow Wayfinder and musician Elena Cheah about the role music can play in nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and healing.

One of my biggest takeaways was this:

Music doesn't just help us express emotions.

It can help us move through them.

If you missed that conversation, I'll include the replay below because it beautifully complements what we're exploring next.

Paint night fun!

This month inside The Village, we're continuing our summer theme of SELF with a special guest speaker:

🌿 The Village: Sound as a Tool for Nervous System Regulation

Our guest, Kiana Siino, is a certified trauma-informed sound healing practitioner with a medical background who helps people better understand how stress impacts the body—and how sound can help create space for relief, regulation, and restoration.

Together we'll explore:

✨ What sound healing is and how it works

✨ How sound affects the nervous system and body

✨ Simple ways to incorporate sound and music into everyday life to support stress regulation

And we'll conclude with a live guided sound bath experience featuring meditation, vocal toning, drumming, and Himalayan singing bowls.

As we've been discussing in The Village over the past few months, so much of our healing begins with learning how to reconnect with ourselves.

Not through doing more or trying to “fix” ourselves.

Through creating moments where our nervous systems finally feel safe enough to soften… to let go.

Sometimes that happens through a conversation.

Sometimes through stillness.

And sometimes through sound.

🎧 Headphones and a quiet, comfortable space are recommended for this experience.

P.S. A small personal update:

Over the past year, I've often sent personal text messages and direct reminders about Village gatherings because I genuinely wanted to make sure people who were interested didn't miss out. Many of you have told me you appreciated the reminder, and I loved being able to personally reach out.

At the same time, I've realized that keeping up with individual reminders has become unsustainable for me, and part of my own self-care this season is honoring my energy and capacity.

So moving forward, I'll be relying more on emails and registration reminders rather than personal outreach.

If you'd like reminder texts before future Village gatherings, be sure to include your phone number when you register so our system can send them automatically.

Thank you for your understanding—and for being part of this community. 💖
